Easy Skillet Green Beans

Ok, I officially want to build a new house! Last week I told you that my parents purchased a home here in Tejas .. that’s what us Texans like to call Texas sometimes … I know I’m so legit right 🙂

Any who, they purchased a lot and are building a new home. Which means they get to pick out all the “goods” that go inside that house! Jealous!

Yesterday was the beginning of that and Cason and I got to go with my mom to start the process!

All three of us walked into this design center and wow was it impressive and overwhelming all at the same time. It was kinda like walking into Ikea where they have mock up living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, etc everywhere. Except this place had shelves filled with every kind of cabinet color and style, back splash, floor tile, bathroom tile, lights, carpet, wood floor, faucets, sinks, tubs, the list goes on. Everything you can imagine!

I really wanted to help my mom out and try to solidify some selections for her. I figured, let’s start with the focal point of the home… the kitchen. Plus the kitchen is where my mom and I bond the most anyways so it’s a natural place to start. 🙂

To get the ball rolling, Cason and I just started pulling out a few cabinet colors. We found a few she liked, jotted them down and then moved on to the counter tops. She is really wanting to get Quartz in her kitchen so we headed to that area of the design center and focused in on two colors that she loved. By the end of the night we were able to solidify the counter top color, cabinet design and color, backsplash, and wood floor color.

After I left it got me giddy to start designing our new home… although it is still 2 years down the road. But, a girl can dream. I will live vicariously through my mom until then. 🙂 hehe

Why Cook Green Beans in a Skillet?

This Easy Skillet Green Bean Recipe will rock your world. Everything is made in one pan using only 5 ingredients. Can’t get simpler than that folks! The only “prep” that needs to be done for this dish is mincing the garlic. That’s it. Say hello to your new best friend!

Not only are these Skillet Green Beans crazy easy to make but the flavor the green beans get from charring in the skillet is like none other. That is saying a lot for me. Usually I am a “roast all the veggies” kinda girl but there is something special about sautéing these green beans until they are slightly charred on the sides. Then adding fresh garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes at the end for a slam bam finish.

Adding these flavors at the end of the cooking process instead of the beginning leaves the green beans tasting incredible light and fresh. I was snacking on these like they were french fries throughout the day .. they are that good.

Hope you enjoy sweet friends. Bon Appetite .. until next time! 🙂
