They get quite a bit of ass kicking done in just above 20 minutes. The riffing on this thing is pretty wild from start to finish, the vocals sound feral, and the drumming shines on songs like "Violence is Forever". It doesn't sound that much different from their prior releases, but there's not much point changing too much sonically when it sounds this good on a consistent basis.

Looking forward to a fresh release in 2024.

Bro, like, bruh, you’ll never like, be one of us, bro. Bruh. LOL for all the quality memes that this hideously bad album title spawned, one must look past the elitist attitude and the penchant for performing powerviolence in leather jackets (totes veegs bro), and see that beneath the layers of masculine posturing and internet ridicule, Nails’ third offering is actually a vicious assault on the senses. Heavy, dirty drums and Entombed-core riffa*ge is the order of the day, but sometimes just to bang your head is all you want to do. Bro.

Die, Snake

I liked the power exibited here (as always), and the album is paced very well, like the previous album, the final song is very good, but this time, it´s AMAZING. I love it. And also this album. It´s great

A chainsaw to my ears

This is easily the most violent and intense record I've ever heard. Every aspect of this is just 100% ass-kicking brutality. The guitar is not only nasty and abrasive, but f*ckING HEAVY like some bass-boosted chainsaws and the vocals are so enraged it's honestly impressive. There are plenty of vocalists who can grunt or shriek but Todd can probably shatter concrete with how forceful his shouting it.

You Will Never Be One Us sounds like something of an warning for a Metalhead going to a Hardcore show… You’re used to pits and moshing, but then you notice everyone is skan*ing about doing f*cking Karate so you stand back at the edge for a bit to work out what the f*ck is going on, then someone comes along crowd killing. Now you’re bleeding from your nose, wondering why the fat kid hit you and the pit is now basically just people fighting. Stood there in your Metallica T Shirt, just wanting to jump about a bit, you realise, you will never be one of them. Is it because you’re a puss* or is it because you work in an office and have a wife and kids and getting punched in the face by teenagers isn’t a good look? You decide mate, paint it however it makes you feel better about yourself.

Nails are so incredibly violent and aggressive though that if you were to see them live, I don’t know what you could expect other than total f*cking carnage. Unsilent Death is barely a step above the most violent Hardcore imaginable. Abandon All Life seemed to step a tiny bit further away from the stupidly violent Hardcore side of things into a more pure Grindcore and that is continued here with You Will never Be One of Us, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t still the f*cking skan*iest, spin kickingest, crowd killingest sh*t imaginable. You’d better f*cking be one of them, or this sh*t will f*ck you up and you will have a lot of explaining to do to your wife and kids.

Nails still deliver the most Hardcore sounding Grindcore imaginable, even if here there is the slightest, most vague whiff of Deathgrind now and again. The album is your standard Hardcore fare, turned up to about a billion. Incredibly heavy and violent short bursts of extremity, designed for the sole purpose of getting every negative emotion you have in you out and into the pit, although it does end with Prog Rock masterpiece They Come Crawling Back, which clocks in at an incredible 8 minutes in length, meaning it takes up around 40% of the entire album. Honestly, as much as I am loving this album sat at my desk at work, it’s not the right environment for it. This is music for the pit, music for spin kicks and wild arm flailing and there are none better. I want to end this by saying You Will Never Be One Of Us, but at my age now? I’d absolutely sh*t myself in a Nails pit. It’d be worth it though.

"You Will Never Be One of Us" is the 3rd full-length studio album by US, California based hardcore/grindcore act Nails. The album was released through Nuclear Blast Entertainment in June 2016. It´s the successor to "Abandon All Life" from 2013.

Stylistically the material on the 10 track, 21:43 minutes long album continue the raw and uncompromising hardcore/grindcore style of the preceding releases by the band. The tracks are harsh, fast, noisy, and brutal, and most definitely not for the faint at heart. The listener is exposed to a caustic aggression and a convincing savage approach to delivering the music. While the pace is predominantly high throughout the album, there are sections featuring crushingly heavy breakdowns and the 8:14 minutes long closing track "They Come Crawling Back" is a slow and heavy track throughout. So there is a bit more variation on the album than what is initially revealed when you´re pummelled by the opening title track.

"You Will Never Be One of Us" features a raw and powerful sounding production, which suits the material perfectly. So upon conclusion "You Will Never Be One of Us" is another high quality release by Nails. Some people may shy away from a full-length album which is only about 20 minutes long, but I asure you that it´s a perfect length format for Nails music. Music this extreme is seldom enjoyable for the duration of an hour long album release, and that has nothing to do with the quality of the music. This type of music is just better enjoyed in shorter intense doses. A 4 star (80%) rating is deserved.

Quick album that cuts all the fat and only leaves hard-ass riffs. Triangulated somewhere between grindcore, hardcore, and death metal. Album sounds great and the short runtime makes for a satisfying listen. Some of the meanest stuff I've ever heard - as good as advertised.

#4 on my AOTY 2016 list

I gotta hand it to Nails. They combine like every element of extreme music on here, adding death metal solos and there was even passage whose guitars remind me blackmetal. It's still super hardcore, but like at maximum quality and musicianship. I just listened to a classic '80s hardcore group before this, and comparing the musicianship was eye opening.... These guys, and other powerviolence types, have taken the legacy of minor threat and made it into a steam engine of tight brutality. My hat is off to these guys
